Autologous Fat: How it Works and Its Advantages
Autologous fat filler treatment uses natural material from your body to fill wrinkles, restore volume, and provide natural results.
Autologous Fat: The body's own answer…
Signs of time passing, endless hours in the sun, intense emotions expressed on the face – wrinkles hide many chapters of our life story. However, they also hide insecurity and anxiety about our changing and aging appearance… Today, the science of beauty offers a wide range of therapeutic options for wrinkle treatment, with non-surgical therapies that bring real changes to the face.
Autologous Fat Transfer One of the most modern trends in treating facial wrinkles is autologous fat transfer, meaning the transfer of fat from one area of the body where it is unwanted to another where it is needed. The contour of our face or body is determined not only by the bones and muscles of the area but also by the condition of the skin and the percentage of fat beneath it. Autologous fat transfer primarily concerns areas that have lost their volume, such as the areas under the eyes, the lips, and the nasolabial folds, which it “fills in.” It can be applied either individually or as a complement to other treatments.
Significant advantages… Fillers with autologous fat have a major advantage over others. The material used is biocompatible as it comes from the body itself, so the immune system does not treat it as a foreign body. Therefore, there is a much lower chance of rejection. For the same reason, the risk of an allergic reaction is minimized. Consequently, autologous fat can be safely used in areas where other fillers are not typically placed. Furthermore, the result of autologous fat injection is permanent, the appearance is natural, and it can last for several years, as fat cells theoretically live forever. This fact offers another advantage over other fillers: the economic factor, as the patient does not need to return at regular intervals to repeat the treatment, as is the case with other dermal fillers. The procedure can also be combined with other treatments, such as blepharoplasty and FaceTite, for a comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
Three-stage procedure The facial fat transfer procedure is performed in three stages: Initially, fat is removed using advanced liposuction techniques from a donor site on the body, which can be, for example, the abdomen, flanks, or thighs. Next, the fat undergoes a specific processing to ensure that only whole, intact fat cells are used. Then, the fat cells are injected with a syringe into the target area(s). The entire procedure does not last longer than two hours.
Always with the advice of a plastic surgeon The plastic surgeon will assess your facial needs, discuss your goals and expectations with you, and suggest the most suitable solution for your specific case, whether it involves autologous fat or fillers like hyaluronic acid. Understanding the difference between them is crucial, as it will help you confidently make the right decision.
