The female body after 40.
The **female body** ages, and as time passes, it inevitably undergoes changes. But what happens after 40? What changes do we notice in the body, and what impact do these have on our endurance and our external appearance?
Changes in the Female Body over Time Initially, there is a loss of muscle mass. As we age, we **lose muscle tissue**, estimated at approximately 250 grams per year. This fact, combined with the **hormonal changes** occurring in the body, leads to an increase in body weight. Our body burns fewer calories. Consequently, to maintain a healthy body weight and avoid accumulating kilos, women at this age must pay attention to their daily **diet**. Over time, the female body also loses its ability to absorb calcium and other vitamins to utilize them for increasing bone density. Each year, our body experiences a **1% loss** of its bone mass. However, women can strengthen their bones through daily exercise. Especially with certain weight-bearing exercises, we can prevent the progressive loss of bone mass, which ultimately leads to osteoporosis. Something very important that we should not overlook is the appearance of breast cancer, especially after the age of 30. There is naturally a small stabilization of rates between the ages of 45 and 50. However, the rates of women with the disease in this decade are constantly increasing. Indications that should alert us include **palpation** of a solid mass in the breast, retraction of the nipples, dimpling of the breast skin (orange peel texture), or other skin lesions that are indications of the disease. No woman should neglect regular check-ups with her gynecologist.
Female Body & Climacteric A major issue at this age is the climacteric. This period begins gradually and can appear with very subtle symptoms in the middle or late **4th decade** of our lives. In our body, there is a decrease in estrogen production, and consequently, a disturbance in their levels, as well as other hormones. A significant symptom of climacteric is irregular **menstrual periods**. This symptom occurs in 90% of women during the 4 years before menopause. The result of these hormonal disturbances includes troubled sleep, hot flashes, and irritability. This period gradually leads to a reduction in the chances of conception, something many women find difficult to accept.
Female Body & Hormonal Disorders It is also observed that through various hormonal disorders, many **glands** in the female body modify their function. The most important is the **thyroid gland**, which is one of the organs that affects daily life, either by underperforming or overperforming. This results in problems such as weight gain or loss, discomfort in cold or heat, and alternating constipation and diarrhea. The pancreas, similarly, reduces its insulin metabolism capacity. As a result, blood glucose levels often increase, and the appearance of diabetes mellitus is observed. The changes the female skin undergoes are also inevitable. Estrogen deficiency plays a significant role in these changes, leading to collagen loss and a reduction in skin thickness. A consequence of this is the appearance of many small wrinkles. **Facemed** is for us women the ideal ally in the daily battle we wage against time, moving together and always guided by skin health and meeting the needs that arise for each woman individually. **Together, we can achieve great results.** We can improve our external appearance, maintain our body's health, and boost our self-confidence.
