Mandelic Acid Peel , also known as “ Mykonos Peel ”, is a superficial chemical peel suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive . Mandelic acid diffuses into dermal tissues in significantly smaller quantities than other alpha hydroxy acids. It acts on the upper layer of the epidermis , up to the stratum spinosum, without affecting the stratum lucidum. This is why mandelic acid peel can be applied safely during the summer months , as the possibility of post-treatment hyperpigmentation is almost zero . Its main ingredients are almond oil, 2-hydroxy-2-phenylacetic or phenylglycolic acid, which belongs to alpha-hydroxy (fruit) acids and is prepared by hydrolysis of bitter almond extract.
Mandelic Peel (Mandelic Acid) treatment is indicated for: 1- Acne and rosacea 2- Seborrheic Dermatitis 3- Minor fine lines 4- Skin imperfections and signs of photoaging 5- Dull skin 6- Pigmented spots and freckles 7- Skin with insufficient microcirculation 8- Skin with enlarged pores
Properties of mandelic acid peel 1- Causes superficial exfoliation . It loosens the upper layers of the epidermis and removes unnecessary skin cells. 2- Has an uplifting effect on the skin due to the synthesis of collagen and elastin which activate cellular regeneration and the smoothing of fine wrinkles. 3- Has a bacteriostatic and anti-inflammatory effect. It suppresses bacterial production due to its structural similarity with macrolide antibiotics. This reduces the risk of inflammation and skin infection. 4- The skin lightening effect is achieved by removing the superficial layer, the skin becomes smoother and lighter. 5- The cytoprotective (antioxidant) effect is achieved due to the blocking of free radicals and the ability to stabilize heavy metal ions. This means protecting skin cells from the negative effects of the environment. 6- Evens out pores and effectively treats mild acne.
Advantages of Mandelic Acid Peel: 1- Mandelic peeling is also ideal for those who have an intolerance to glycolic and retinoic acid. These acids are recommended in treatments for skin with enlarged pores, acne, and oily biological aging. 2- Compared to other fruit acids, mandelic acid is less prone to causing complications such as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. 3- It is not painful 4- It can be applied in summer , because it does not cause photosensitivity and actively inhibits melanogenesis. However, the patient must daily use sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30. 5- The absence of edema and hyperemia is considered an additional important advantage of mandelic peeling. 6- If after other fruit acid peels you need to stay home for a while, with mandelic peeling you can move freely. 7- Mandelic acid peel can also be applied to the hands and décolletage.

Subsequently, we apply creams rich in oil, hyaluronic acid, aloe extract, or shea butter. And of course, we don't forget to wear our sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30. 4- With this specific peeling , no peeling is observed in the following days, the most that can happen is a pityriasis-like exfoliation in some areas after 3-4 days of application, which subsides in 1-2 days with the use of a regenerating – moisturizing cream.
